Wayne Brooks, Roger Mooney and Anthony Lucia will handle announcing duties at the 2026 Wrangler NFR, according to the September 23 contract-personnel announcement. Their selection puts an experienced microphone team in place for the December 3–12 finals.
The organizer lists this as Brooks’ 14th NFR appearance, Mooney’s tenth and Lucia’s second. For spectators, the announcers provide the connection between the action in the arena and the changing competition picture.

The team behind the performances
The announcement also names John Barnes as livestock superintendent, with Austin Rudloff assisting, and Raina Hudson as saddle horse boss. Tony Amaral is the timed-event chute boss and Tom Neuens the roughstock chute boss.
Sunni Deb Backstrom returns as secretary, assisted by Jennie Murray. Timers are Vicki Pack, Sharon Bernhard and Kris Fleener. Brad Narducci is music director, with Jake Ostrum as assistant music director. These appointments cover work that spectators may not immediately notice but that supports each performance.
Why those roles matter to the audience
Rodeo moves between scored riding events and races against the clock. Clear announcing helps a new viewer understand what has happened, which result is being considered and why a penalty or review matters. A good evening’s viewing is easier when the explanation keeps pace with the action.
Behind that commentary are the competition records, timing and arena operations. Fans should distinguish the people presenting the event from the officials responsible for its classifications. An announcer’s description helps explain the result; the official record remains the reference for standings and corrections.
Prepare for ten nights in Las Vegas
If this will be your first NFR, learn the difference between a round placing and the average before the opening performance. It will make the announcers’ championship discussions easier to follow as the event progresses.
Use our performance schedule to plan your evenings and the NFR channel guide to arrange viewing. Ticket holders should also leave enough time to reach their seats rather than treating the scheduled performance start as an arrival time.
